HEARTBREAK HUNDRED RIDE RESULTS
100 miles - 8,500 feet of climbing
Stage Three of the King of the Mountains Century Challenge
Our largest field of Heartbreak Hundred riders ever enjoyed the gorgeous, quiet and scenic roads of the Angeles National Forest, Los Padres National Forest and Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge. It was a very cold and wind day - which is highly unusual, as this ride is reputed to be so tough because of the heat! Crazy!
Congratulations to the 41 women and 143 men who rode Heartbreak to complete the third stage of the King of the Mountains Century Challenge! All 164 official finishers received a pair of the exclusive Planet Ultra polka-dot finisher socks, and earned the right to wear the awesome King of the Mountains Official Finisher Jersey. The top riders will also be awarded prizes donated by VDO Altimeter/Cyclometer, Detours, and E-Caps/Hammer Nutrition. The support and enthusiasm for the inaugural King of the Mountains Century Challenge was incredible - and we thank all the riders and volunteers who made it great! Totally unsolicited, but greatly appreciated, rider feedback:
"Congratulations of a great event. As Brian would say, not a junk mile. Wonderful scenery, good organization, great support. I'll look forward to it next year." - Jim Henderson, Riverside, CA
"Another job well done! Aside from the
low temps and constant wind, it was just great another ride living up the Planet
Ultra standards. The support,
as usual, did an outstanding job. And your prompt posting of the results was
just awesome." - Tony Musorafite, Torrance, CA
