Join us for three epic, quad busting days of riding to kick off your season! Preview nearly all of the Mulholland Challenge Climbs! 50 to 65 miles per day, with endless climbing in and around the Santa Monica Mountains above beautiful Malibu. (Trust us - it's enough miles for so early in the season... Especially with so much climbing!) Our absolutely superb routes will whip you into shape and get you fired up for the King of the Mountains Century Challenge!
Weve put together super tough routes that will whip you into shape for the new year and get you ready to do your best on all three stages of the King of the Mountains Century Challenge! There are no junk miles whatsoever on the agenda. Were going to explore many, many miles of highways and byways that no other organized bike event has ever visited.
Our routes are very challenging, averaging between 750 and 1,000 feet of climbing for every ten miles. Since many of the climbs are long (4 to 9 miles), and some are very steep (14-16%) we suggest a minimum low gear of 39 x 27; but a 39 x 29 or 32, or better yet, a triple crank, will be much appreciated on many of the climbs. Please note: What you'd use for a single day event is probably not enough for three straight days. You will fatigue from the accumulated miles. Also, please bring a good, sturdy set of wheels, as some of the roads are less than perfect. Light-weight, fancy wheels are really not appropriate for this type of Camp.
Note: All rides begin at 9:00am-ish at the Renaissance Hotel in Agoura Hills, unless otherwise agreed upon. It's pretty cold in the morning. Our experience is that it warms up by around 9:00am - so why start earlier?
