Heartbreak 2005 was incredible! We were treated to the BEST weather ever for this epic event. 57 century riders and 70 double century riders (our largest combined field ever) took to the scenic roads on this quiet and beautiful course. Challenging climbs, breathtaking views, quiet roads, and long, rewarding descents, are what makes this course one of the best in California.
Congratulations to the following eleven riders who earned their Planet Ultra Grand Slam, and received a very cool, special edition Grand Slam coffee mug, by completing the Heartbreak Double Century: John T. Clare, Frederick Fritzen, Max Hogan, Francis Ignacio, Rick Jacobson, Adam Kingsford, Brent Kingsford, Steve Meichtry, Tom Milton, Michael Sturgill and Timothy Van Blaricom. Speaking of the Grand Slam, we have a great new jersey in the works! Click here for a preview!
Congrats to Eric Wilson who went off the front early and never looked back. He had the lead the entire day - and came in first with an awesome time of 11h:34min.
Girl Power! Check it out! #2 and #3 on the double are women! Great job Shannon Cutting and Janet Christiansen! You GO girls!!!
Kudos to newbie ultra rider Mattias Derynck, who had the sixth fastest overall time on his very first double century! Wow!
Desmund Shirazi and James Short, Jr. SMOKED the century course! Since there wasn't a mass start, we're not able to call their super fast 6h:6min time a new course record... But we challenge them, and all the other century riders, to come back next year and make it "official."
Special thanks the the wonderful volunteers who made this Heartbreak Century
& Double Century particularly awesome!

Super nice, and much appreciated feedback:
"Another great job by
you and your crew! Thanks. Since I am anything but a strong climber, the
Heartbreak was a very big challenge for this rider and, while it was a huge
effort in reality, everything came together to make it a great experience that I
will always have with me. You seemed to have everything dialed in and even
arranged for some awesome weather to cap off a great experience. Thanks for all
your good efforts, Debbie and Brian."
