They came, they rode, they got poured upon, they got cold, many went home early, drenched and shivering, but the bravest, hardiest, and toughest rose to the challenge and completed their goal of 100 miles, 200 miles, or 250 miles. That's what happened when "the storm of the season" intersected California's second toughest endurance cycling event. Before it even started, seventeen were too scared of melting and thus didn't even show up. In the end, four completed the century (loop one on the Ridge Route, complete with mud and torrents of water across the "road"), sixteen of 36 completed the double century (loop one, plus the highland loop two up to Mt. Wilson and back), two completed the lowland 400km, and ten completed the highland 400km.

With their collective achievement, an epic ride has become legendary.

Kudos are extended to Jeff Landauer. He set a new, and now permanent, 400km course record of 16:37!
