We had beautiful blue sky from the get-go today, heralding another glorious day of cycling in paradise. We rode mostly as a comfy paceline or small groups all day, sharing the workload up front and lots of great conversation. The highlight of the ride was the funky little hamlet of Casmalia. Curiousities abounded there. Later, we were astounded by fields of purple lupine and orange poppies, not to mention Ostrich Land and its namesake flock. Our final stop for respite at the Quackenbush Café was enjoyed by all, as was the final assault of Drum Canyon. The weather topped out at nearly 80. It couldn't have been a better day. We are so lucky and happy to be here.
