Thank you in
advance for your interest in volunteering for a Planet Ultra event.
Please check out the below information and then send us an email if
you're ready to get on board!
- Let us know you're interested in volunteering at least two weeks
before the event. Please note that we receive many (and
sometimes too many), volunteer offers for the easy to reach,
local events and at the end of the year events - but we don't
have unlimited needs for volunteers. So please plan in advance,
and please be open to helping out at our more remote events.
-
Plan to spend the weekend, including pre-ride food prep on
Friday evening and the entire day Saturday out on the course
having fun as a Planet Ultra Ambassador.
- We
usually have a limited number of staff hotel rooms (double
occupancy) at our remote events. We will also reimburse
volunteers for fuel and other miscellaneous expenses incurred
the day of the event. Volunteers should request reimbursement
within two weeks of the event; and turn in receipts with their
request.
-
Everyone who volunteers at an event may take advantage of our
"work one, ride one free" policy. Please note that the intent of
the "work one, ride one free" offer is to encourage riders
themselves to give something back to the sport they love.
However, we also appreciate when riders bring along family and friends who
they've recruited to help out, so we're offering a one-half ride
credit to the recruiter if the volunteer doesn't want the ride
credit. Ride credits
must be used within a year of the date of volunteering.
-
Staff Rides: At the Solvang Double Century events, Eastern
Sierra Double Century and Solvang's Finest Century, we'll have a
Sunday Staff Ride the day after the main event. The Staff Ride
is free. If it's a double, you'll also receive Grand Slam and
California Triple Crown credit. For the doubles, we'll have one
or two SAG drivers who leap-frog the riders on the course. The
century course doesn't really require support as there are
several places on the route to stop for water/food. However, if
we have a volunteer for the century, support will be provided.
-
Are you ready to volunteer now? Please
send us an email
and let us know which event you're interested
in. We also need to know what type of vehicle you'll be driving,
whether you need a place to stay, and let us know if you have
any special skills which will help us decide where to place you.
If you have a preference, or time constraints, please be
specific. Finally, please provide your cell phone number, and
then be sure and bring the cell phone to the event.
-
Once we've confirmed you as a volunteer, we absolutely expect
you to keep your word and be at the event. If you have a change
or heart or change of plans, please let us know in advance!
No-show volunteers create huge hassles on the day of the
event.
-
Monday or Tuesday before the event, we'll send our Staff
Deployment email with all the details, including your particular
assignments. When you receive your email, please send an email
back to confirm receipt and to let us know you'll absolutely be
there!
